Type locality: Bonge, Cameroon
Diagnosis
Forest counterpart of P. iridipennis, with which it is often found, being similar by (a) at least partly pale labium; (b) broad pale borders of humeral and interpleural sutures separating metallic green areas, rather than enclosed in metallic areas and with at most with pale traces. However, differs by (1) not as widespread, occcurring from DRC to W Africa; (2) labrum pale with black border, in contrast with metallic green postclypeus and black genae; (3) metastigma touched or enclosed by metallic green area; (4) Pt large and swollen (very rarely absent), spanning 3.5 to 6 underlying cells, rather than small or absent, spanning at most 3.5 underlying cells.
Habitat description
Mostly streams, but also rivers, shaded by forest, but sometimes in open areas in forest. Often with emergent vegetation and/or submerged roots and probably overhanging branches and coarse detritus. From 0 to 1000 m above sea level, but mostly below 800.
