Diagnosis
Male is similar to N. dorsalis by (a) labrum and postclypeus predominantly dark; (b) lower border of antefrons dark like postclypeus; (c) thorax at most with traces of dark inter- and metapleural stripes; (d) antehumeral stripe distinct and complete; (e) postdorsal stripes may be merged with pale area of middorsal carina or antehumeral stripe; (f) ventral teeth of cerci directed down- or inwards, only visible in dorsal view in latter case. However, differs by (1) ranging from W Kenya, through Uganda to Katanga; (2) larger size, Hw 30-38 mm; (3) postdorsal stripes usually well-separated from middorsal carina; (4) Pt 3 mm or more; (5) cerci blunt rather than pointed, almost truncate like fists, with ventral teeth directed downwards, not visible in dorsal view; (6) apices of epiproct rounded or pointed rather than square-cut. Habitat description
Streams shaded by forest, sometimes also by gallery forest. Often with a gravelly and/or sandy bottom and probably coarse detritus. From 900 to 2200 m above sea level.
