Diagnosis
No full diagnosis of this species is presently available, although the mature male is the only calopterygid in Africa with broad wings with sharply-demarcated dark tips.
Habitat description
Headwater streams shaded by forest. Usually with coarse detritus, often a gravelly, sandy and/or soft (like muddy) bottom, and probably submerged roots. From 0 to 800 m above sea level.
