Diagnosis
Male is similar to O. macrostigma (a) thorax without whitish stripes; (b) 2 cell-rows in radial planate, sum of cell-doublings in all wings 11-29, rarely down to only 4; (c) Pt 3.5-5 mm, 13-15% of Hw length; (d) anterior lamina does not reach over hook of hamule, with notched apex; (e) lobe of hamule prominent, space between it and hook usually gaping cleft. However, differs by (1) ranging from NE DRC to W Africa; (2) smaller size, Hw 26-31 mm; (3) labium broadly black rather than all pale; (4) dorsal carina of Abd not black (when not pruinose); (5) hook of hamule relatively small, lying close to large and round lobe. Habitat description
Standing and probably often temporary waters in open landscapes, but sometimes also open areas in forest. Often with emergent vegetation and a soft (like muddy) bottom. From 0 to 1000 m above sea level.
