Type locality: Reserved forest, Le Banco, near Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire

Diagnosis

Male is similar to C. annulatum by (a) head may blacken with age, at least S3-6 usually largely black with maturity, but at least S8-10 remain red; (b) humeral and metapleural sutures with dark dots in fossae (may disappear with darkening of body); (c) Pt rhomboidal, anterior border shorter than posterior; (d) penis with small horn-like cone on each side of base of apex; (e) apex of S10 with thick black denticles, these often merged to form thick black ridge or cluster; (f) cerci broad, wider than long, often overlapping each other (dorsal view); (g) paraprocts without heel (lateral view). However, differs by (1) labrum green to blue, thorax becoming blackish and pruinose with age; (2) eyes dorsally dark reddish rather than all green in life; (3) Pt blackish rather than red; (4) apex of S10 with deep circular excision, fortified with thick rim of black denticles (dorsal view); (5) black tooth placed near internal corner of cerci (dorsal view). Habitat description

Standing and often temporary waters shaded by forest. Usually with coarse detritus and often emergent vegetation and probably submerged roots. From 0 to 900 m above sea level, but mostly below 700, although possibly up to 1300.
